Week Six - Oops!...I Did it Again

Week Six - Oops!...I Did it Again

Not much positive to report this week other than consistently making it to the gym. We’re in the last push of the boys’ baseball season, so our entire week revolved around the ball park.

I find it so challenging to make good food choices when I’m not having dinner at home, but being on the go every evening makes that impossible. I end up grabbing a hot dog at the ballpark and then having an unhealthy snack when we get home. I’m trying to break the habit of allowing one small choice to snowball into a day, or week, of mistakes, but that’s how things turned by Tuesday.

As I’m taking the time to reflect on my weekly performance, I’m realizing my struggles are related to my insecurities about my current work situation. I’m lacking focus and short-term goals, so I retreat to the quick fix of my beloved Lay’s potato chips or a trusty Wendy’s JBC. Somehow, I have to get to the point where I feel I’m worth more than the garbage I’ve been shoving down my gullet.

You can probably guess that I gained 5 pounds and am back up to 263. I could try to convince myself the muscle I’m building is contributing to the weight, but deep down I know the truth that my shit eating is the root of the gain. The only thing I can do is celebrate my gym success and work on forming better habits one day at a time.

This week’s addition to my workout playlist is Britney Spears’ Oops!…I Did it Again. Britney seems to share a lot of my challenges with food and staying consistency, so I think she’d understand this week’s failures. Plus, thinking about that red bodysuit while on the treadmill will motivate me to move faster.

How have you been doing with your health goals? Have you had any victories or setbacks? I’d love to hear how you’re doing. Comment below or shoot me an email at mollie@midlifepickle.com.
