Every year on Good Friday my mom and I make the pilgrimage to Holy Cross-Immaculata Church in Mt. Adams to pray the steps at midnight. We’ve been doing this for probably 20 years.
For most of 2019 writing was a big part of my life. I spent several hours every day being creative, interacting on social media, thinking about how to convey my message to a larger audience. I was meeting new people, and reconnecting with old friends while learning about myself.
I haven’t always felt connected to a Christian community, but somehow I managed to find a home at St. Mary. The challenging part of this situation is I’m often skeptical and have questions and struggles with faith, spirituality and organized religion. The irony of these circumstances are not lost on me.
Even though I think Peeps are disgusting, Easter is my favorite holiday. I’ve been a fan my entire life, mostly because I’ve won the Annual Braun Family Egg Hunt 36 out of my 42 years.
