Sleepy Weepy

Sleepy Weepy

This week has been rough. Not only did work kick my ass, but I had several projects hanging over my head that I struggled to find the time to complete because I was working 12+ hour days. Top it off with my Lenten commitment to daily blogging and it’s been a recipe for exhaustion.

After a social engagement this evening, I finally stumbled home around midnight staring down the nose of a good 2-3 hours of video editing to do for a project that I have to have ready by 2pm tomorrow. I shouldn’t have waiting until the last minute, but honestly my work schedule could not have been predicted this week. I had assumed I’d have plenty of time. As is often the case, I was wrong.

So here I sit at 2:00am. I’m finishing up my editing and looking for songs to compliment 3rd grade boys basketball. I’m consider the songs Ollie uses to hype up before his games and I come across Imagine Dragons “Whatever it Takes” and add it to the project. Then things got weird.

I’m sure it’s exhaustion—I have been up for 21 hours and worked 60+ hours this week—but this song that appeals to my 11-year-old basketball player hit me in the feels and I’m crying nearly uncontrollably. Hell, typing through the tears is even challenging. As I consider these lyrics, it does sorta relate to my last 5 days, but sleepy weepy isn’t a good look. It’s clearly time to hit the hay.

If you’d like to have a deeply emotional experience or get hyped for a 5th grade basketball game, I suggest you take a peek at the video below.
