What Goals?

Birthday months are for reflection and goal setting so I started October off with a list of three goals, all of which are SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound). As usual, I bit off a bit more than I can chew, mostly because I ignored the fact that I’d also be on vacation one week out of this month. To top it off, I failed to leave wiggle room for those times when life gets in the way.

An update seems appropriate as I stare down the nose of the last 7 days of October.

Blogtober (31 Blogs in 31 Days) - I’ve managed to tweak by with at least one for 24 days. Some were better than others but I’ve committed time every single day to practicing my craft. I even managed to reach this goal while on vacation and after a tipsy birthday dinner. I’m going to push to try a new format or medium over the next couple of days, so stay tuned.

Yogathon (20 Yoga Classes) - I’m writing this in yoga pants as I’m headed to class shortly, but this is the goal that’s been the most challenging. I started off with some allergy issues that kept me from going to several hot classes before vacation, then I had work conflicts and a school obligation for Harry. It was as if one thing after the other kept me from making it to class. Unless I can cram in 2 classes a day for the rest of the month, I don’t see this one happening. I think I’m going to get as many in as possible and role this challenge over to November.

Reading Roundup (Read 4 Books) - I’m two books in and about to finish number three this evening. If I hump it and steer clear of Charles Dickens I should be able to make this one happen. Pool and beach time last week helped with carving out the extra reading time, but overall I’m thrilled to be focusing on books again.
